For over 70 years, the Kiwanis Club of Huntsville has supported the children of Huntsville and Walker County. Through our membership in Kiwanis International, and our long standing relationships with many businesses and individuals in our community, we promote educational and recreational programs for children.
Some of our many programs are Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), where Kiwanis of Huntsville provide books to every third grader in public and private schools in Huntsville. We also provide scholarships for graduating Key Club (HHS), Circle K (SHSU) and Builders Club (Junior High) members and support of Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and other youth oriented programs.
The Kiwanis Club also supports the Special Olympics, Salvation Army and was an integral part of bringing and supporting CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) to Walker County's disadvantaged children.
It is in the support of these programs that I ask your help today. The Sam HoustonPedalFest is an effort by the Kiwanis Club to offer a safe and fun event to generate interest and monetary support to fund our many activities.
